Solana Merges AI with Blockchain, Boosts Grants Fund to $10 Million

Innovative Integration of AI into Blockchain by Solana

On the 23rd of May, the Solana Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to the upkeep and enhancement of the Solana blockchain, declared that it had merged artificial intelligence (AI) using a ChatGPT plugin created by Solana Labs.

Open-source ChatGPT Plugin: A Game Changer

As per the developers, the ChatGPT plugin is an open-source tool that can be easily accessed for download from GitHub. It is designed to "facilitate comprehension of Solana's data and protocols and provide insights into Solana's computing infrastructure as well as DeFi projects."

The plugin is engineered with multiple capabilities, such as buying nonfungible tokens (NFTs), executing token transfers, analyzing transactions, interpreting public account data, and locating NFT collections by floor price on Solana.

A New Paradigm: AI and Consumer Applications

Anatoly Yakovenko, the co-founder of Solana, commented, “Every developer targeting consumer-centric apps should envision how their app will engage with an AI model, as it presents a novel way of instructing computers."

Boosting Grants Funding and Launching Student Accelerator Program

Furthermore, the Solana Foundation disclosed that it would ramp up funding for grants that explore the convergence of the Solana blockchain and AI from its initial commitment of $1 million to $10 million. Developers revealed that the ongoing grants program has already garnered 50 applications.

The Foundation has also inaugurated a three-month accelerator program for university students, a unique group probing the potential of blockchain and AI. The developers reported that the program has attracted an overwhelming number of applications, and the AI-focused group has already resulted in an Ask Solana U chatbot.

Hivemapper's AI Trainers: A Noteworthy Launch

In its ecosystem, Solana recently witnessed the launch of AI Trainers by Hivemapper. This groundbreaking tool transforms real-world images into intricate digital maps showcasing details like speed limits, warning signs, and other road-related data. Since this launch, Solana developers report that protocol contributors have carried out 5.7 million AI training reviews, with consensus achieved on 500,000 objects.
