CBS Studios has secured approval for their application using the iconic Star Trek brand in conjunction with cryptocurrency and nonfungible tokens (NFTs). This milestone move into the digital realm was sealed on August 8th following the application in April. The newfound role will see Star Trek tying into digital cryptocurrency collectibles and NFT-validated video clips.
Thanks to this freshly granted approval, Star Trek Continuum will embark on a new journey as an NFT range. This collection will encompass diverse starships from the cherished sci-fi series.
NFT and Blockchain Venture gets $132 Million Boost from FC Barcelona
FC Barcelona, the renowned soccer club, has secured a whopping $132 million for its initiatives surrounding NFTs, web3, and the metaverse. As per the announcement, this digital expansion aligns with their wider Barça Vision agenda.
The funds were gathered by parting with a 29.5% stake of Bridgeburg Invest, the parent company of Barça Vision. The investment is a joint venture from Libero Football Finance and Nipa Capital.
y00ts: An NFT Project Switching from Polygon to Ethereum
y00ts, a digital project by DeLabs, is making the switch to the Ethereum network from Polygon. The company took this decision just a few months after the majority of its NFTs were transferred from Solana to Polygon.
With this shift, the company will be merging its projects – y00ts and DeGods. The company and Polygon Labs, who granted them $3 million, have come to a mutual decision of returning the aforementioned sum, originally intended to assist the migration to Polygon.
Canada Sets to Establish a Repository for Crypto and NFT Assets
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Canada's federal law enforcement, have indicated their need for a method to store seized crypto and NFT assets efficiently yet securely. A centralized repository, according to the RCMP, will make it easier to seize these assets while ensuring their safe custody.
To support NFTs, the law enforcement department needs a solution that is compatible with popular blockchains such as Ethereum, Solana, and Polygon.
